The Captioning Quality Task Force is making its final preparations to launch the data-gathering initiative. In the coming weeks, you will be able to upload videos of broadcast captions that you believe to be either ineffective or great. The Global Alliance will be transcribing these videos, grading them according to the NER method, and analyzing the outcomes. Watch our social media for instructions on how to start submitting samples!
The Board of Directors will be meeting on Wednesday, November 9, at 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. Members, visit the Members only page to register for this meeting.

Board Member Spotlight:
Orla Pearson is a director of MyClearText Ltd, based in the United Kingdom. Orla is an Irish Citizen living in London.
Orla was educated in Dublin and trained to be a stenographer in Bray, working in London in the courts system before embarking on a long career at the BBC in 1994. She also has served as a council member on the British Institute of Verbatim Reporters, helping them to recognize and support captioners in the UK.
Why did you decide to serve on the Global Alliance Board?
By bringing the Global Alliance some visibility in the UK. I think pushing the quality captioning agenda is the strength, but also educating people as to why it matters. Making sure people understand what good captioning looks like and what bad captioning looks like. Getting to the decision makers for contracts and events and educating them about the nuances around providing this kind of access to the public.
