This Veterans Day and throughout the year, the Global Alliance is helping raise the bar for captioning quality and accessibility for the 1.79 million veterans who have hearing loss. On behalf of the Global Alliance, I want to recognize our veterans and their families for their sacrifices and for all they do to protect us at home and abroad. Thank you for your service!

On October 31 we wrapped up our Founding Members Campaign. We are excited that eight new Founding Members joined us during the final days of this campaign, including our first industry corporate Founding Member! Thank you to all those who contributed as Founding Members. Your tremendous support and generosity are key to helping us achieve our vision of “Universal Accessibility to the Spoken Word Via All Forms of Captioning.”

On November 1 we opened general membership. Those who have joined, we thank you. Your membership shows your support, not only for the Global Alliance and its vision and mission, but also for high-quality captioning. If you are yet to join, what are you waiting for? We need your support, your input and your involvement. Click here to join today!

During the month of November, we are working hard to increase general membership, to fill our four remaining Board seats, and to create two new committees. Any member who would like to be considered for one of the four remaining Board seats should contact us ASAP. We will begin interviews soon, and we will fill those Board seats by the end of December. Our Testing and Certification Committee will be formed from general membership, drawing on the diversity – which is the strength – of the Global Alliance membership. Finally, we will form a committee to create written guidelines to be used by consumers and those who request captioning services. These guidelines will be the go-to resource when choosing the best form of captioning for any event.
