Participants will learn the basics of sports captioning, including the types of work available, dictionary management, and prepping techniques. Chair Karyn Menck is the owner of Nashville-based Tennessee Captioning, and is a Registered Professional Reporter, Registered Merit Reporter, Registered Diplomat Reporter, Certified Realtime Reporter, Certified Realtime Captioner. In 1984, Karyn began her court reporting career in Nashville. After 11 years of court reporting, she added closed captioning to her business. Since 2000 she has concentrated solely on closed captioning and CART work. Speakers Jennifer M. Bonfilio currently owns Coast 2 Coast Captioning out of Asheville, NC, where she provides remote captioning in a variety of settings, including sports arenas, webcasts, college graduations, council meetings, state government, and TV broadcasts, among others. Sandra Smith is the President of Write-On Captioning & CART, Inc. Ms. Smith graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1986.She has worked as an Official Court Reporter, Freelance Court Reporter and CART/Broadcast Captioner. Ms. Smith has experience in all aspects of broadcast captioning with an emphasis on sports. Captioner Stephen Clark
