jennifer Peirson, DIRECTOR (2023 - 2025)

After graduating from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Music degree and a Business Minor, Jennifer decided to go back to school to attain a court reporting certificate, which she did in 2003 from Virginia School of Technology in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She then began a 16-year career as a freelance stenographic court reporter, first in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, then in San Diego County, California, and finally back to Virginia. During those years, she had the opportunity to report civil trials, medical malpractice depositions, construction defect cases, and serve as a Federal Grand Jury reporter for the Southern District of California.

But ever since her court reporting school class took a field trip to the National Captioning Institute, it was her dream to become a captioner. In 2017, Jennifer received training in both CART and broadcast captioning, and finally, in January 2018, her dream of becoming a captioner came true, and she has been working as a remote CART provider since that time.

Jennifer recognizes the importance of captioner certification, and she believes one of the greatest achievements so far by the Global Alliance is the creation of the NER-Certified Speech-to-Text Provider certification. She plans to have “NCSP” after her name by the end of 2023. Jennifer is a former Registered Professional Reporter (RPR, from 2006-2023) and California Certified Shorthand Reporter (from 2007-2022). She is currently a member of the Global Alliance's Caption Quality Task Force, Education Committee, and she also manages the Global Alliance's social media accounts. She is so excited to help move forward what the founding members of the Global Alliance have started.
