LYNN MEYER, DIRECTOR (2024-2026)

Lynn Meyer is a 1993/1995 graduate of Johnson & Wales University’s Court Reporting and Administrative Management programs.  After receiving those degrees, along with the decision not to pursue court reporting, Lynn worked multiple administrative positions for the next decade or so.  She then found a voice writing course which took her on the path of pursuing Broadcast Captioning, successfully completed the course, but found that work was difficult to obtain.  She got her foot in the door by transcribing financial calls and some government meetings using her voice software.  This work helped her get more familiar with her software and technique.

Her next career move was joining one of the largest captioning companies and spending 12 years there captioning all sports, all the time.  The next chapter of her life prompted her to move on from this company and become an Independent Contractor and allowed her to broaden her captioning range into news.  Her goal is to broaden the scope of work even more into the CART arena and also obtain the NCSP and/or the RBC (Registered Broadcast Captioner) certifications.

Lynn became a member of the Global Alliance in 2023 and joined the Education Committee with the goal of helping other captioners and also being helped by them.  The captioning community is unique, and we have much to offer, no matter if you are a voice captioner or stenographer.  Voice and Steno are input methods; the output is the same.
