![]() | tremmel watson, Director (2025-2027)I’m a disability rights advocate working in Public Policy at Disability Rights California, focusing on cross-disability issues such as housing, policing, education, mental health, and communication access. As a late-deafened adult, I rely on CART and high-quality captions to participate fully, and that lived experience drives my commitment to advancing captioning standards and communication equity. My work spans local, state, and federal levels. I serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the FCC’s IP CTS Caption Quality Metrics Working Group, consult on communication access in legal and correctional settings including Armstrong v. Newsom, and advise the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors as an appointee to the Disability Advisory Commission. I’m also a published author, with writing in Hearing Health Foundation and NCRA’s Journal of Court Reporting. Internationally, my leadership has been recognized by the Peel District School Board’s “You Are Hear” program in Canada, which named me among Black DHH activists to know. |
