Tremmel Watson is a Public Policy Analyst at Disability Rights California (DRC) and Region IV Director for the Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA), working on cross-disability public policy. As a late-deafened adult who relies on CART and high-quality captions to participate fully, Watson’s lived experience drives a deep commitment to advancing communication equity and disability rights.  

Watson's advocacy spans local, state, and federal levels. He served as a Subject Matter Expert on the FCC’s 2024-2025 IP CTS Caption Quality Metrics Working Group, consults on communication access in legal and correctional settings including Armstrong v. Newsom, and advises the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors as an appointee to the Disability Advisory Commission.

A published author featured in the Hearing Health Foundation and NCRA’s Journal of Court Reporting, Watson was internationally recognized by Canada’s Peel District School Board “You Are Hear” program as one of the Black DHH activists to know.
